Today, David Wereh, the Secretary of the Department of Works & Highways, signed three major road contracts valued at K587m for different road sections in Morobe, East New Britain, and Southern Highlands Province.
The signing ceremony occurred at the Government House and was witnessed by Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika since both Vice Regal Sir Bob Dadae and the acting Vice Regal Hon. Job Pomat were absent.
The first Contract was for designing and constructing the Rindita to Kware road in Southern Highlands Province, valued at over one million. CIVPAC Ltd (Civil Contractors Pacific Ltd) was awarded the Contract, and the signing was witnessed by Director Peter Sapake and Commercial Manager Ismael Nelson in the presence of Acting Governor General Sir Gibbs Salika.
The second Contract was for a 4-lane road and pavement restoration in Kokopo, East New Britain Province, worth over KK221 million. COVEC PNG Ltd was awarded the Contract, and General Manager Eason Wang and Associate Yang Ke witnessed the signing.
The third Contract was an amended contract worth over KK273 million for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the highland’s highway from Nadzab to Henganofi Bridge in Eastern Highlands Province. The signing was counter-signed by Ding Hongniang and Zhu Zhong Shan of China Wu Hi Co Ltd, the contractor.
