Key locations for the proposed Bina Harbour Tuna Processing Plant (BHTPP) in West Kwaio, Malaita Province, have been identified. This includes the water source, water treatment plant site, and reservoir site. The water sources are of high quality and abundant, ideal for the plant’s needs.
The Solomon Water Authority (SIWA) and Snow Mountain Engineering (SMEC) consultants played a significant role in finding these locations. This step marks important progress for the ambitious project, as a sufficient water source is essential for the plant’s sustainable operation and meeting environmental standards.
Details about the locations and technical specifics have not yet been shared publicly, but the news has already sparked excitement among stakeholders and locals. The plant is expected to greatly benefit the country’s economy, creating new growth and job opportunities.
As the project moves forward, more evaluations, consultations, and approvals from relevant authorities will be carried out to make sure it follows environmental rules and serves community interests. The project aims to bring sustainable and positive change to West Kwaio and the entire Solomon Islands.
Updates about the project will be provided to the public regularly as it gets closer to completion.
