Honiara, Solomon Islands – June 17, 2025 – Excitement is building in Honiara as the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair approaches its grand opening. It will run from June 30th to July 7th, 2025, at the FOPA Village within the Solomon Islands National University (SINU). This year’s fair marks a significant return for a vital national event, last held in 2014.
Under the inspiring theme, “Trade for Transformation – Rebuilding our Happy Isles,” the fair aims to energize local industries, foster robust economic growth, and proudly showcase the vibrant spirit of the Solomon Islands.
The National Trade Fair is making a strong comeback. This underscores the Government for National Unity and Transformation’s (GNUT) deep commitment. GNUT focuses on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and uses trade as a primary catalyst for national development.
Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Frederick Kologeto, highlighted this vision at the official launch in early June. He powerfully described the private sector as the nation’s “engine room.” The fair, he emphasized, offers a crucial platform. Here, businesses connect, grow, and innovate, showcasing their products, services, knowledge, and skills.
Preparations for the week-long event are moving swiftly and precisely. The National Trade Fair Committeemeticulously coordinates efforts. Five dedicated sub-committees manage operations: Grounds, Trade Exhibition, Competition and Entertainment, Administration, and Media and Communications.
Chairman Mr. Moses Waririu shared his optimism. “This year’s event should be one of the most inclusive and dynamic trade fairs to date,” he stated. “We commit to promoting local entrepreneurship, innovation, and diverse hospitality. Furthermore, we want to create meaningful linkages between producers and markets.”
The FOPA Village at SINU will officially host the 2025 National Trade Fair. A Service Agreement between the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee and SINU solidified this partnership. Dr. William Parairato, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Corporate) of SINU, expressed the university’s honor in supporting this national endeavor. He views it as a unique opportunity to bridge education and innovation with real economic activities.
Adding to the sense of national pride, the 2025 Trade Fair strategically coincides with Solomon Islands’ 47th Independence Anniversary celebrations on July 7th. This timing infuses the economic showcase with an extra layer of national festivity.
Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of products and services from across the country. In addition, the fair will feature engaging cultural performances, exciting competitions, and invaluable business networking opportunities. These elements are essential for growth.
The National Trade Fair provides an unparalleled platform for a wide spectrum of participants. This includes small and medium enterprises (SMEs), local artisans, farmers, exporters, and provincial participants. It’s a chance for them to engage with both domestic and international audiences.
Businesses keen to exhibit their offerings should visit the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour & Immigration (MCILI) Marketing Division to register for stalls. Various packages are available to suit different needs:
This highly anticipated event signals a renewed focus. It aims to revitalize and strengthen the domestic economy, foster innovation, and build stronger economic partnerships within the Solomon Islands and globally. Consequently, the 2025 National Trade Fair is poised to be a landmark event. It will significantly contribute to the nation’s journey toward economic transformation and a brighter future for its “Happy Isles.”
