The National Capital District Commission is now accepting applications for the 2026 Community Action Grants. Invitation is now open for local groups in Port Moresby-including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME), youth and women’s associations, churches, and NGOs to apply for funding. The Community Grant Program is administered by the Economic & Business Development Branch under the Social Development Directorate.
Our goal is to drive community action by supporting local MSMEs, ensuring inclusive participation, and working together to build a clean, healthy, safe, planned, and livable city.
Goals:
- Empower community MSMEs and strengthen local trade.
•Ensure associations, women, and youth take the lead.

- Support community-led solutions for grassroots growth.
•Align local actions with the city’s development vision.
Informal vendors are required to be members of an officially registered vendor association for eligibility to apply for grants. Project Focus Areas:
To qualify, your project must focus on one of these areas to improve Port Moresby:
1.
Inclusive Social Development: Women/youth leadership, GBV prevention, and Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) services.
- Sustainable Livelihoods: Start-up incubation, MSME growth, and expanding market access for local sellers.
- Circular Economy & Waste Management. MSME-led-recycling, waste cleaning, and community based hygiene.
- Urban Resilience & Local Leadership Community safety networks and disaster preparedness.
- Transparency & Local Governance: Strengthening associations, MSME compliance, and volunteerism.
- Innovation & Knowledge Sharing: Using tech and peer learning to solve local business or community challenges.
Grants Eligibility:
- Be a member of a registered association, NGO, church, or registered SME.
- Operate within NCD.
- Be registered with IPA or other official authorities.
- Have an active bank account.
- Show that the community supports your work.
- Have a clear plan that shows how your project will help people.
Each project can receive up to K10,000. The final amount depends on how realistic your plan is and how much money is available.

- Fill it out: Make sure you fill out every section of the form.
- Submit: Send your application by email.
Note: We will not accept applications delivered by hand or by post.
Applications open on Monday, 1st June 2026 and will be closed on Tuesday, 30th June 2026. Successful applications will be announced within 30 days after the closing date.
